Desserto® is a sustainable, cruelty-free leather alternative. As opposed to traditional leather which utilizes harsh chemicals in the tanning process and traditional “vegan” leather made from fossil fuels, Desserto® is created from the prickly pear, or nopal, cactus. A plant native to many desert regions, prickly pear thrives in environments many other textile plants would not. Because of this, Desserto® farms do not need to utilize any external inputs such as irrigation or pesticides.

Utilizing traditional leathercrafting techniques, all products are handmade in-house. Dedicated to providing the highest quality in luxury and craftsmanship, each item is hand stitched and finished.

All dust bags are created in-house from upcycled materials

Wallet dust bags are made from excess muslin scraps sourced from the Arizona State University Fashion Program, both owners alma mater, and naturally dyed with used coffee grounds.

Tote-style dust bags are created from military surplus wool fabric and are intended for reuse!

Shipping containers are created from 100% recycled, 95% post-consumer material from Eco-Enclose and are recyclable and naturally biodegradable. Each box is assembled and hand-stamped in-house.
